Science Intent

At Gatcombe Park Primary school, we aim to develop children as scientists who demonstrate these characteristics:

Curiosity, passion and excitement.
A secure understanding of the world around them, built on prior knowledge, and that it is ever-changing.
Ability to make links between knowledge and application across the curriculum and in their lives
Communicate their knowledge verbally, through reporting scientific findings and in solving challenging problems in different contexts
Competence and confidence in practical skills, becoming independent in planning and carrying out scientific investigations.
Think independently and raise questions about working scientifically and the knowledge and skills that arise
Confidence to embrace the unknown and welcome doubt
