So much to look forward to on the Countdown to Christmas.
Here are some of the highlights of our curriculum this half term:
English: Our reading and writing will mostly be based on the book 'On Sudden Hill' written by Linda Sarah. We will be writing Diary Entries from the point of view of Birt (main character). We also read, learn and take inspiration from a poem called "Colour"
Phonics and Spelling: We have now moved on to a unit from Little Wandle called " A Bridge To Spelling"
Maths: Strategies within 10 and calculations up to 20 including bridging through 10.
Science: Animals including humans. We will be learning about life cycles
History: The Great Fire of London.
Art: Drawing.
Other Key Information for Year 2
PE - Tuesday and Friday
Please come to school in school PE kit - shorts or tracksuit bottoms in cold weather, white polo shirt or t-shirt, a school jumper and trainers. Please make sure long hair is tied back and jewellery is not worn/ stud earrings taped up..
Reading at Home
Decodable books will be sent home on a Thursday, to be returned the following week on a Monday. Please read each night with your child - this could be a mix of both decodable books and reading for pleasure books. Please sign the children's reading log, which will be checked on a Monday and rewarded with house points.
What to bring to school each day -
Lunch box (unless your child is having a school packed lunch) and water bottle.
They also need to bring their home reader and reading log every day.
If it is colder or raining, please make sure your child has a coat and a jumper with a name in.
Library day -
Every Tuesday. Please ensure books are being returned each week so your child can continue to borrow from the Library.
