Welcome to Year 4!

SPRING TERM 1

Key information for our class is below.

REGULAR ROUTINES

• What to bring to school each day - Lunch box (unless your child is having a school lunch), water bottle and their home learning pack (reading book, reading log, spellings)

• PE - Monday and Thursday (Please come to school in PE kit - black/grey joggers/leggings or cycling shorts/shorts if the weather is warm, trainers.  TOP HALF AS NORMAL FOR SCHOOL UNIFORM - polo shirt and school sweatshirt/cardigan.

Home learning

• Please read with your child at least three times each week. We have updated reading logs for you and your children to complete together.
• Spelling - will be given weekly. The words will be from the year 4 statutory spelling list, from words links to year 4 topics and grammar rules.

SPING 1 CURRICULUM

MATHS - Lots of multiplication this half term! Looking at the relationship between the 3 and 6 times table, 9 times table, 7 times table. Then looking at multiplicative structures and the distributive law.

WRITING - Our class texts this half term is Varjak Paw by SF Said. We will complete a non-fiction family profile and then some narrative writing, creating their own chapter.

READING - We are following a new scheme called 'Destination Reader' where there is a big focus on developing overall learning behaviours, the love and joy of reading as well as the key skills needed for comprehension. 

SCIENCE - The digestive system and teeth. 

GEOGRAPHY - How far has your food travelled? Looking at land use across Europe and food miles.

PHSE - 'Keeping safe'

COMPUTING - Creating media - Audio production

PE - Dance with Megan and cricket with Katie!

RE - Islam
