Here are some of the highlights of our curriculum this half term:

English: Our reading and writing will mostly be based on the book 'Kensuke’s Kingdom' by Michael Morpurgo.

Maths: Negative numbers, multiplication and division by partitioning.

Science: Materials:  Investigating how some changes result in the formation of new materials, and that this kind of change is not usually reversible.

History: The Vikings in Britain.

Art: Drawing a Viking long boat and design and create a Viking shield.

Spanish: La fecha (the date)

R.E.: Theme: Christianity and Christmas - Is the Christmas story true? 

Computing: Creating media-video editing

Other key information for Year 5

PE - Monday and Friday

Please come to school in school PE kit - shorts or tracksuit bottoms in cold weather, white polo shirt or t-shirt, a school jumper and trainers. Please make sure long hair is tied back and jewellery is not worn/ stud earrings taped up.

Home learning -

Reading: Please read at least 3 times a week and get your reading logs signed by an adult. Bring it to school in your book bag every day and it will be checked at least once a week by an adult to be rewarded with house points.

Maths: TTRockstars.

Spelling Shed: Spelling Shed practice at least 3 times a week. 

What to bring to school each day - Lunch box (unless your child is having a school packed lunch), water bottle and your home learning pack (reading book and reading log)
